How much do custom blinds cost in Houston in 2026?

Most people who ask what custom blinds cost want a useful number—not an answer that starts with “it depends.” So here is an honest place to begin, followed by the reasons the final quote can move.
The short answer
Custom blinds can start around $166 for one 3′ × 6′ window. That benchmark is for our most economical configuration: a custom two-inch, cordless faux wood blind.
It is a starting product price—not a universal installed price for every window. Professional installation, freight and sales tax are separate. The final number changes with the exact measurements, material, controls, finish and manufacturer selected for your opening.
We do not use a minimum order to push a project larger. If you need one blind for a home office, we can help with one blind. If you need coordinated treatments throughout the house, we can plan that too. Our suppliers do not require a minimum number of blinds per order either.
Why one useful starting price is better than a giant price chart
Two windows that look similar in a photograph may need different mounting hardware, control systems or finished dimensions. A chart with dozens of broad ranges can look precise while still giving you the wrong expectation.
The $166 example gives us a real baseline: one common-size window and one straightforward cordless product. From there, we can explain which decisions change the quote without pretending that every blind, shade or shutter belongs in the same price bucket.
What changes the price of custom blinds?
Window size
Custom products are built to the measured width and height of the opening. Larger windows require more material and may need stronger hardware. Very wide openings can also change whether one treatment or multiple treatments make more sense.
Product and material
A two-inch faux wood blind is an economical place to start, but it is not the right answer for every room. Moving to real wood changes the material, weight and finish. Moving from a blind to a roller shade, honeycomb shade, Roman shade or plantation shutter changes the construction entirely.
We start with how the room needs to work—privacy, glare, heat, moisture, access and cleaning—then compare products that actually solve that problem.
Controls and motorization
Motorization generally starts around $250 more per shade or blind, depending on the product and manufacturer. On a compatible blind, that may automate the tilt. On a shade, it may raise and lower the entire treatment.
Controls are part of the system design. Remotes, chargers and a smart hub for broader app or home-automation control may add to the project, as can freight and sales tax. We spell those pieces out instead of hiding them inside one unexplained number.
Options and finished details
Color and material upgrades, decorative valances, specialty shapes, unusual mounting conditions and other modifications can all affect pricing. Some upgrades are mostly visual. Others solve a real installation or performance problem. We will tell you which is which.
What is separate from the starting price?
For clarity, the starting example does not include:
- Professional installation
- Freight from the selected manufacturer
- Texas sales tax
- Motorization, remotes, chargers or smart-home hubs
- Material, finish or hardware upgrades
Your written quote should make the selected product and these additional costs clear.
What happens during the free in-home consultation?
We measure the actual opening, check depth and obstructions, and talk through what you want the room to do. Then we bring the relevant samples to the window so color and material can be judged in your own light.
That visit is also where we can catch details that change the right product: handles, trim, furniture, humidity, a preferred stacking side or access to power. The goal is not to make the order bigger. It is to keep a seemingly small detail from becoming an expensive correction later.
Can Starlite quote only one blind?
Yes. There is no project-size minimum from Starlite and no supplier minimum number of blinds per order. One office window is a valid project. So is a full home.
The most useful next step is simply to show us the window and what is not working now. We can measure it, compare the sensible options and give you a clear project quote without asking you to commit during the visit.
