Window treatments

Plantation Shutters

The one window treatment that reads as part of the house. Custom-built, painted to match your trim, and built to outlast everything else on this list.

Arched windows, bay windows, odd shapes — this is where custom actually matters, and where measuring by hand pays off.

What changes the answer

Choose by the opening, not the catalog

01

Fit the opening

Frame depth, trim, handles, arches, and panel swing are resolved before anything is ordered.

02

Choose the material

Wood and poly solve different weight, moisture, span, and finish needs; neither wins every window.

03

Design the sightlines

Louver size, divider rails, and panel layout should feel intentional from inside and outside.

Frequently asked questions about plantation shutters

Are plantation shutters made for each window?

Yes. The frame, panels, louver layout, and finish are built to the measured opening, including arches and other non-standard shapes.

Should I choose wood or poly shutters?

Wood is lighter and offers traditional finish options. Poly handles moisture and everyday wear well. We recommend by opening, not by a blanket product ranking.

Can shutters work on wide windows?

Often, yes, but panel count, hinge placement, weight, and access matter. We check the span and how you want the panels to move before recommending a layout.

How long do custom shutters take?

Shutters generally take longer than shades or blinds because they are built and finished for the opening. We provide the current production window before the order.

Shutters are worth seeing in person

We bring louver samples and finish chips so you can match them to your trim.
